Both the Dashboard of Economic Indicators and Voices & Choices identified the importance of preparing our region's residents for the careers of the 21st century. While few employers continue to offer "a job for life," it is vital that our residents have access to the education and training needed so that they are "employable for life."

The partners of  Advance Northeast Ohio are working to identify regional opportunities to provide educational excellence and improved workforce development programs. There are many local and regional programs focused on education and workforce. The challenge for Advance Northeast Ohio is to build a network of world-class programs and initiatives that result in a highly-educated and trained workforce that helps our region's companies compete globally.

  • Implement workforce guarantee program to supply trained workers for growing businesses employers

  • Develop lifelong learning initiatives

  • Create workforce attraction and development programs for high-growth industries, particularly health care

  • Encourage innovative public school funding reform

  • Garner support for statewide preschool initiatives

  • Support programs that improve adult education and degree attainment

  • Train and place former inmates in career-building employment

  • Educate and provide job training and placement services for juveniles emerging from justice system
