The following is from the Akron Beacon Journal's editorial page today:

The two-year state budget the Ohio House unanimously approved this week contains a new line item: a relatively modest sum of $20 million for schools dedicated to science, technology, engineering and math, the so-called STEM disciplines. The budget includes financial incentives for primary and secondary teachers to go into the disciplines and summer academies to stoke student interest. House leaders have made a down payment, in effect, on an approach they trust will renew the Ohio economy.

You can read the full editorial here. NorTech and many others have been clamoring for years that the state needs to do more to support STEM education programs. It is good to see the Legislature is starting to listen.
