Government Efficiency Getting More Attention
Categories:
Ever since some of the partners in Advance Northeast Ohio commissioned this study that determined that local government consumes the equivalent of 10% of our region's economic output there's been much more interest in what can be done to boost government efficiency in our region. One way to boost efficiency is to benchmark our local governments against others in Ohio and elsewhere. Plain Dealer reporter Laura Johnston has benchmarked our region's largest government -- Cuyahoga County -- against other large counties in the state. She's turned that research into a series of compelling stories that explain quite clearly that the cost of county government in Cuyahoga County is relatively high. There are efforts under way, such as the Regional Prosperity Initiative and EfficientGovNow, that will increase the efficiency of our local government. But more needs to be done. What would you like to see happen in your community and county to increase government efficiency? Trackback URL for this post:http://38.98.53.40/trackback/618

Voting all incumbants out of office and reducing department heads salaries would help. Local officials should be paid on merit not time in service.
