What change would you most like to see in your local government?

This poll is "leading" toward choice #4 the last choice. I say this because it is the only choice that states the benefit of the action taken. Choices 1 - 3 only list the action to be taken and say nothing in regards to the benefit(s).

You need to re-word items 1 - 3 to list the benefit of that choice as it is not clear to all poll voters.

Thanks,
John

John sums it up nicely. I also would expect to see a more professionally worded poll question. There is little value to any results from the poll with the current wording.

I hope you do not use the results of such poorly developed polls when approaching donors and businesses or making public statements. It would really undercut your reputation if they should learn of your approach to polling.

My comments are as an elected official of local government that these ideas that help implement change are best discussed locally with other elected officials in a small group setting so that support and discussion of what are the goals can be put forth, dissected, and then reassembled into what may be the best course of action and implementation. Given Sunshine Laws, it is hard to discuss the regional needs at a public meeting. I'd invite the media to a follow up meeting of government leaders so that the public can then read about and comment on the ideas generated. After all, you need public support and you need to ensure that the public has its chance to comment and bring to the table their needs.

I'd go one step further in recommending that small business partner with local government entities to discuss common threads of needs and support services, and recommend a cost sharing of services among the small business, local, and county government entities.

Why is this poll (and many of your others) depend on a one-choice answer?

In practice, none of these answers preclude the others. For one example: wouldn't pursuing (a) in consolidating safety and fire services also lead to (b) and (c) for each partner, and then strengthen(d)?

Polls like these ignore collaborative, mutually supportive linkages. Since this website is predicated on supporting just that, this is ironic, don't you think?
