Deciding Cuyahoga County's Future
Categories:
A 9-member state commission was appointed last week to take a serious look at how Northeast Ohio's largest county (33% of the region's population) is governed. The Commission on Cuyahoga County Government Reform will draft proposed legislation for restructuring the government and present it to the governor and legislature by Nov. 7. There's been lots of conversation regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of Cuyahoga County's government and all government in the county. This task force has a large job in front of it. One of the region's strongest advocates for regional collaboration and sharing, Gund Foundation Executive Director David Abbott, is on the commission. David is one of the organizers of the Advance Northeast Ohio effort and was a co-chair of the Voices & Choices civic engagement that led to ANEO. He is also chairman of the Fund for Our Economic Future. For a full list of commission members check out this story from the Plain Dealer. Expectations for this commission will be high.
