Cooperation Pays Off in Wooster

Categories:

Earlier this month I noted in a post here how Ohio was ranked as the top state by Site Selection Magazine in terms of attracting business investment. and that Akron was ranked second in the nation among communities with between 200,000 and 1 million residents.  What I failed to note is that Wooster also earned praise as the third most successful micropolitan community in the region.

This is what Rod Crider, president of the Wayne County Economic Development Council had to say to the magazine about why his community outperforms most of the nation:

"It sounds almost like a cliché, but there is a level of cooperation that exists here that I haven't seen in other areas. That has a lot to do with businesses feeling comfortable in locating here. The second part is that companies really value the work force here. We are not so far removed from our agricultural heritage. The work force expects to give a hard day's work for a day's pay."
